Alumni Travel Programs

TCU Insider Trips are designed to offer exclusive opportunities for alumni, parents and friends that only their TCU connections can provide.  Horned Frogs from across the country come together to enjoy lifelong learning in the most unique ways.  From Washington D.C. to Paris and Normandy, different trips are offered for different interests.

  • Hosted by TCU Art History Professor, Dr. Mark Thistlethwaite, holder of the Kay and Velma Kimbell Chair of Art History
  • Approximately $5,000 (includes air and land)
  • Limited to 12 to 24 total guests
  • Description: From the breathtaking Amalfi Coast to eternal Rome, through the genteel Umbrian and Tuscan countryside to timeless Venice, this leisurely tour showcases ancient sites, contemporary life, priceless art and beautiful natural scenery. Three-and four-night stays in intimate small hotels in Amalfi, Tuscany countryside and Umbria. The tour includes: Stunning Amalfi Coast (coast cruise). Ruins at Pompeii. Rome sightseeing, including St. Peter’s Square, Sistine Chapel, Colosseium and Forum. Pastoral Umbria, the “green heart” of Italy. Italian cooking demonstration. Visit to the walled city of Assisi. Comprehensive Tuscany sightseeing. San Gimignano, Siena and Florence. Local wine tasting. Timeless Venice.

Celtic Lands – Cruise (five-star small ship)
  • May 23 – June 1, 2016
  • Approximately $6,000 (not including air)
  • Description: Eight-night cruise from Glasgow, Scotland to Honfleur, France. Cruise with Dwight David Eisenhower II (grandson of General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower and esteemed political scientist and American historian). Visit the Beaches of Normandy, including a military cemetery and the D-Day Museum. Unique full-day Highlands of Scotland excursion with specially arranged rail journey aboard the Jacobite steam train. Visit the Isle of Iona, Scotland’s “cradle of Christianity,” featuring a visit to the historic Iona Abbey. Scenic crossing to Tobermory, Isle of Mull, with excursion to Duart Castle. City tour of Dublin. Exclusive, specially designed historic and cultural itinerary to Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France

Treasures of Peru - Land
  • February 29 – March 10, 2016
  • Approximately $3,750 (includes air and land)
  • Limited to 12 to 24 total guests
  • Description: A land of Treasures archaeological, cultural, and natural, Peru draws those eager to learn about the distant past – and encounter a fascinating present of colonial and indigenous influences. Tour includes: Lima sites and historic Casa Aliaga. Visit to Larco Herrera Museum. Historic Cuzco, including the Incan Ruins and lunch in the home of a Cuzco family. Sacred Valley touring. Two guided visits to ruins at Machu Picchu. Visit to Indian market in Pisac. Scenic drive from Cuzco to Lake Titicaca, with a full-day tour of the Lake. As our small group takes in some of the country’s highlights, we marvel at the riches of an intriguing land somewhat off the beaten path.
